FAQ
The Forum online Help system includes an overview of Forum features and explains how to complete
tasks in the application. For more information about the online Help system,
see Using the Forum Online Help System.
The Forum online Help system includes feature overviews and instructions that guide you through
completing specific tasks. You can navigate to a specific procedure using the Contents tab, or you
can use the Search tab to locate a specific word or phrase. Once you locate the procedure you want to
view, click the name of the topic to open it in the right pane. You can click Print to print a topic.
* About Categories:
From the Categories tab, you can view a list of categories, click on a category name to access a list of
discussions under that category, and, if you are a member, start a new discussion. When you start a
new discussion, select a category to associate with it, enter a name or title for the discussion, and
then leave the first comment. For more information, see Creating Discussion Threads.
* Viewing Categories:
If you want to view the categories in a public forum, you can do so without logging in. However, if the forum is private, you must log in before you can view categories or any other content within the forum.
* About Discussions:
From the Discussions tab, you can view a list of discussion threads, start a new discussion, and
leave comments. If you have administrator access, you can also lock, unlock, or delete discussion
threads. When you add a discussion, you can select the category it belongs to, enter the discussion
name, and leave the first comment for the discussion. For more information,
see Creating Discussions.
* Adding Comments:
You must be a forum member in order to add a comment to a discussion. Comments can be added
to any active discussion that has not been locked by the forum administrator. Only the administrator
can lock a discussion or add comments to discussions that are locked.
* Viewing Discussion Threads:
* If you want to view the discussion threads in a public forum, you can do so without logging in.
However, if the forum is private, you must log in before you can view discussions or any other content
within the forum. If you are a member, you can also add comments to discussion threads. For more
information on adding comments, see Adding Comments.
* Creating Discussions:
You must be a member in order to start a new discussion. If you are not a member, you can view the
discussion threads of a public forum without logging in. However, if the forum is private, you must log
in before you can view discussions or any other content within the forum. If you are a member, you
can also add comments to other discussion threads. For more information on adding comments,
see Adding Comments.
* Deleting Discussion Threads:
Only the forum administrator can delete discussion threads. If you log in and you do not see the
options to Delete, Lock, or Unlock, then you are not logged in to your forum as the administrator.
Please check your user name and password and try again.
Once a discussion thread is deleted it is no longer viewable in your forum and it cannot be restored. If
you want the discussion to remain viewable, but no longer want members to be able to add
comments, consider locking the discussion instead of deleting it. For information on locking a
discussion, see Locking and Unlocking Discussions.
* Locking and Unlocking Discussions:
You can lock or unlock discussions at any time. If you log in and you do not see the options to Delete,
Lock, or Unlock, then you are not logged in to your forum as the administrator. Please check your
user name and password and try again.
Once you have locked a discussion, members can no longer add comments to the discussion
thread. However, they can still view the discussion.
* About Settings:
You can set options for your account, such as your name and email address. You can also change
your password. For more information about entering or updating your personal information,
see Setting Account Options.
* Setting Account Info:
You can update your name and contact email address in your account information, if necessary.
* Changing Your User Name and Password:
You can change your password at any time. In addition, if the feature is enabled by the forum
administrator, you can also change your user name.
* Adding a Signature to your Profile:
You can add a text signature to your user profile to display with your username. When you add a post
or comment to the forum, your text signature displays with your user name, identifying you as the
author of the post or comment. You can also add an icon or avatar to your signature.

* Adding an Icon (Avatar) to your Profile:
You can add an image to your user profile to use as an icon or avatar with your username. When you
add a post or comment to the forum, the icon displays with your user name, identifying you as the
author of the post or comment. You can also add a signature to your profile.

Note:.JPG, .GIF, and .PNG file types are supported.
